I was on a journey to do something different in the summer of 2009, because I am overweight and have not been physically active for awhile. I I gave up my house and moved to Portland, Oregon in May 2011 because I have always wanted to live there. There, I found out that I had cancer in several places and had surgeries to remove them. I am still fighting and living each day as it comes. I have changed many things I was doing. It's a journey.

New Year
If anyone was reading my blogs last year, they would have known it was a very eventful year and a very good year. Many things happened to me to make me a happier and more healthier person. I spent most of the year in Korea working at a job that pleased me and meeting lots of interesting people and learning about a country that I did not know. I also met me. I have gathered all of my journals under the larger heading of "Waking up in Korea".
I have written extensively in my journals and on blogs about what happened to me in Korea, but like the Roman God Janus in which this month is name, it is time to close the door on 2010 and look forward to 2011. I have some plans this year. I want to put the finishing touches on my book of short stories and edit them and send some of the stories out to magazines so that I can show they are publishable. Once I have that all wrapped up, I want to start on my next book. I am also wanting to take some lessons on art online. I would rather take them in person in my community but the budget crunch has meant the drying up of such things for seniors. I will have to take them online.
I will get an exercise program that works and continue to refine my diet so it reflects my desire to lose more weight but in a healthy way. So far, I have not gained any weight since I have come back, but I need to lose more and continue my exercise program.
Socially, I am not sure what I am going to do. I will just have to wait and see. As I mentioned there isn't much out there for seniors since the budget problems. I might try the Writers Forum but I am not sure. Many of the people in that organization were not writers, but some were. I will have to just see what is out there.
